Why We Stopped Recommending Conventional Pain Creams and What We Made Instead

For twenty years, Faeve's founder sat across from people in pain.

Not in a clinical setting exactly... she worked alongside integrative and functional medicine physicians as a Registered Aromatherapist and Botanical Formulator. Her role was to bring plant-based solutions into a medically grounded environment. To bridge the world of botanical medicine with the standards that practitioners and their patients deserved.

And for twenty years, when someone came to her with chronic back pain or asked what they could put on their body every single day to support their joints — she kept hitting the same wall.

The Wall

The wall looked like this: on one side, there were conventional topical pain creams. They worked, at least in the sense that they were FDA regulated and could legally claim to relieve pain. But the ingredient lists were troubling. Synthetic preservatives. Chemical emulsifiers. Artificial fragrances. Things she wouldn't choose to put on her own body daily, let alone recommend without reservation to someone she was trying to help.

On the other side, there were natural pain creams. Beautiful labels. Compelling marketing. Botanicals she recognized and respected. But they weren't drugs. They couldn't say they relieved pain because they hadn't earned the right to say it. They were wellness products and while there is nothing wrong with wellness products, except when someone is in real pain and needs something that actually meets that moment.

She kept looking for something in the middle. Something that had FDA OTC drug status — the credibility, the accountability, the legal right to claim pain relief — and was also clean, botanical, and formulated with the kind of expertise that integrative medicine demands.

It didn't exist.

So we made it.

What It Took

Building Kevo-Prophen® was not a simple process. FDA OTC drug status requires an active ingredient that has been formally recognized in the FDA's monograph system. Finding a botanically-derived active that met that standard  and one that we could build a clean, aromatic formula around. It took deep knowledge of both regulatory science and plant medicine.

Juniperus Oxycedrus — juniper tar oil, known in aromatherapy circles as Cade Oil — was the answer. An ingredient with centuries of traditional use and a place in the FDA's OTC monograph for topical analgesics. An ingredient that smells like a campfire. Warm, smoky, earthy, and completely unlike anything in a pharmacy.

We balanced that smoky depth with vanilla  because the experience of applying something to your body every day should feel like an act of care, not a clinical obligation. The scent of Kevo-Prophen® is warm and grounding. It has been described as a campfire with the people you love most gathered around it. That was intentional.

Around that active, we built a supporting formula of botanicals our founder has worked with for decades — β-Caryophyllene, Bisabolol, MSM, Nigella Sativa, Calophyllum Inophyllum, Theobroma Cacao Butter, Salix Nigra Bark. Every one chosen for a reason. Every one belonging.

No synthetic ingredients. No shortcuts. No compromises.

Who We Made It For

We made Kevo-Prophen® for the person who reads every label. Who has tried the conventional options and wondered if there was something better. Who takes MSM every morning and wishes they could find a topical that understood what they already know about their body. Who wants to feel better and feel good about what they're using to get there.

We made it for the person who has been told by their body that daily pain is just part of life now  and refuses to accept that the only options are synthetic chemicals or wellness products that can't back up what they imply.

We made it for people who deserve both. FDA credibility and botanical integrity. Real pain relief and clean ingredients. A product that works and a product they can trust.

After twenty years of looking for that product, we are proud to say it exists.

It is called Kevo-Prophen®. And it is coming soon to Faeve.

Feel Better Knowing Nature Is on Your Side

Kevo-Prophen® is aromatic and herbal medicine — an FDA over-the-counter drug backed by nature. It carries an NDC number. It contains no synthetic ingredients. And it was made by a founder who spent two decades waiting for it to exist before deciding to build it herself.

Kevo-Prophen®. Coming soon to Faeve.

Faeve is a botanical wellness company based in Central Florida, founded in 2017. Every product we make is formulated with the same intention: clean ingredients, real results, and the confidence that comes from knowing exactly what you're putting on your body.
